I turn the world around…

I know it’s been a while since I have posted anything here on the site, but, here I am. Alive and well. Well, as well as I am going to be for the moment. No, things are good (all things considered), but getting reintroduced to my form of civilization has been a little bit of a process. Alot has gone on, and will continue to do so, but, things are looking up.

The old self would have probably exploded, or have just given up by now, but I said old self. Gone are those days. Sure, I’m still working on things, but everyone should strive to be better, EVERYDAY, not just when it’s convenient, or when “things go wrong”. Do I still get stressed? Sure. I won’t lie. But the key is in how you handle the stress and how you look at all things looking for the positives, and for the lesson to be learned by your experiences.

So, mending a broken relationship, dealing with the joblessness and other related issues back here in the good ‘ol US of A, I still believe that in the end, it will all be better than it was before. And that’s what you, and everyone else should feel. Use the events in your life as stepping stones. Experience, learn, grow. What other alternatives are there? Be human. Be well…

What do you do?

Well, so far, so good. However, like I’ve stated before, it’s a new beginning. In a sense, it’s “starting over”. There is a familiarity to all of it, but at the same time, there are adjustments to be made, and “re-learning”. Certainly things are different, and a few hurdles to get over, but, one thing at a time, one day at a time.

There are things currently going on that are not ideal, like still no job, and now problems with my car, but I am looking at the positives of it all, and not letting it get to me. So far, I believe that things have been falling into place and working out, and I am not going to abandon the new mindset and way of thinking. Does being inconvenienced suck? I won’t lie, it does, but what options do I have? The old way of thinking is NOT one of them.

We all have the power, the choice to make when it comes to certain things in life, and how we deal with them. It’s as if we get to a fork in the road. Which way are you going to go? You can choose to complain, whine, get angry, or you can take the negative, deal, and turn it into a positive. I really am done with the old way of thinking, it’s a road to nowhere….

“The first rule is to keep an untoubled spirit. The second is to look things in the face and know them for what they are. If you are pained by external things, it is not they that disturb you, but your own judgement of them. And it is in your power to wipe out that judgment now. Think of what you have rather than of what you lack. Of the things you have, select the best and then reflect how eagerly you would have sought them if you did not have them” – Marcus Aurelius

Don’t worry about a thing, cause every little thing gonna be all right…

When things got rough for me, there were times where I thought life was just a HUGE joke, and not worth the effort. I’m sure most, if not all of you share the same feeling. But, pain and hurt are only temporary. It is us who prolong it.

Things always change and evolve, one way or the other. When things aren’t ideal, you have to believe that the hardship is only temporary, and WILL get better. We have to believe that. We have to help make it happen.

The only thing we should worry about, is how our lives will be better. How our lives will improve after we overcome whatever obstacle throws itself in front of us. Things usually have a way of working out, if we don’t get in the way….

You keep alive a moment at a time…

Things don’t usually happen overnight. So why do we usually expect them to? I’ve been guilty of that, and I’m sure most, no, all of you are guilty of that as well. Sometimes we just need to be more patient with things, and of course do our part to make things better, and the way we want them to be.

If things go wrong, fine. Let them go wrong. It’s just a part of life. It’s something we have to live with. Certain things may slow you down, hurt you, and just flat out suck, but once you do get hurt and fall to the ground, you need to stand, and learn to walk again.

Learn how to walk again and refuse to let things get in the way and stop you from getting to where you want to go, where you want to be. Refuse to give up, refuse to die. Take one step at a time, one day at a time…

“One day at a time–this is enough. Do not look back and grieve over the past for it is gone; and do not be troubled about the future, for it has not yet come. Live in the present, and make it so beautiful it will be worth remembering.” – Unknown Author

Can you see the fabric of our standards wearing thin?

Looking through cynical and negative eyes isn’t a way we should live life. Should we be careful and on guard at times? Sure, I would say so, especially in this day and time, but to revolve your way of thinking to that of someone always on guard just does you a disservice, doesn’t it?

Really all it does is hold you back. Do negative things happen? Yes. Is there people with negativity surrounding them, projecting it towards you? Again, yes. But we have to take it upon ourselves to be the opposite of that. Sure, we can expect to run into “obstacles”, but to let your existence revolve around being cynical and negative, like I stated before, just holds us back.

We should look for the silver lining in everything. Find the silver lining in the black cloud, not focus on the cloud. Most of us tend to do that. Doesn’t make sense when you think about it. Changing yor outlook will help you in the long run.

The Show must go on…

Good or bad, life continues. I know from experience, and I’m sure everyone else has had times in there lives where you just want to throw in the towel. You want to give up.

But we must ask ourselves, what will giving up accomplish? Does that make anything better, or fix anything? No. Of course not. So why is it that we give up so easy, and lose trust and faith in ourselves?

Stop, think, and find out what you really want out of life. Hold your head up, keep a positive attitude and outlook, and you will see that things will change. Now, it may not be instant, but patience is key. In life we are constantly learning, and if we refuse to learn, where does that take us?

We can’t let this be our death…

Things happen. Things change. It’s how we deal with certain things that makes us or breaks us. We need to learn how to take the positive things and make them touch other parts in our lives, and take all the negavtive, learn from it, and not let that stop us.

It’s interesting that most of us just tend to play the victim and let the negative things run our lives. If we continue to dwell, and stay in that mindset, our surroundings will just reflect that. Is that what we really want? I don’t.

Take all things positive and use them. Take all negative things and use them. It must be done to our advantage, and for the betterment of ourselves. Brush away what needs to be, and let’s not let it get the best of us.

It seems it’s written, but we can’t read between the line…

We sometimes think we have everything figured out, don’t we? Life has a funny way of throwing a “curve ball” at us from time to time. How do you deal with it? Do you deal with it at all? It’s easier to run and hide, than to stand and fight.

Not only do we all think we have everything figured out, we also try to force things, we try to change things that sometimes are not our business to change, and we also have a habit of trying to make the square peg fit into the round hole. What’s going to happen, is going to happen. What’s meant to be, is going to be.

So let’s worry about ourselves and how we are going to make our lives better, teaching ourselves how to deal with whatever comes our way, and accept the things that are meant to be.

When you lose something you can’t replace…

We all often take for granted the little things in life. For whatever reason, we just allow ourselves to get overwhelmed with things that really don’t matter, or even pick on the negative in certains things, and even people.

They say you don’t know what you got ’til it’s gone. That truly is the case. Often things have to be taken away, even if for a little while, to make us realize that we should count our blessings, and be happy with what we have.

So learn to appreciate the little things in life. Learn to see the wonder and greatness in things around you. Realize that the smallest thing in someone you love or care about really isn’t small at all…

Put all your worries behind…

As you read this, I will be on my way back home to Chicago. My time here on the island of Puerto Rico I would say was a productive one. I am however still on my journey, and I believe that this is only the beginning.

I fought it at first. I hated it at times, but as time went on, one of the things I began to realize that yes, things do happen for a reason, and sometimes you need a situation, or something to happen to you in your life that “wakes you up”.

So, with lessons learned, and the tools needed to continue on, I return. I return to do things the right way. Changed, renewed, and with a new desire to be a better son, friend, father, and husband.

May good fortune and blessings fall upon all of my friends, family, and all of you and your families, so we can continue on our paths, and all become better human beings…
